Legalization is handled by the Legalization Division, Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
We keep no permanent office in Songkhla — service is by appointment and courier through Bangkok Headquarters (Lat Phrao 95).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened a document legalisation service in Songkhla in 2011 as one of three regional pilots, so clients in the south need not travel to Bangkok. The office has since relocated, so confirm the current address and hours with the Department of Consular Affairs before travelling.

District offices across Thailand can now issue 30 types of civil-registration documents in English. If your document is on that list you may be able to obtain the English version from your local district office instead of translating it before consular legalisation.

Songkhla hosts the Consulates-General of Malaysia and of China, and Hat Yai International Airport lies within the province. Local document work therefore often involves Malaysia: Thai–Malaysian marriage papers, education records and cross-border employment documents. Check with the consulate which attestation services it currently offers before you prepare anything.
We do not keep a staffed office in Songkhla, so the province is served by appointment and tracked courier. We tell you in advance which steps you must attend in person. Malay- or Chinese-language documents need a qualified translation before Thai authorities will accept them, and we confirm whether consular legalisation is also needed for your specific use.
Distance to Bangkok is the main practical constraint in Songkhla. When a step must be done at an embassy rather than a consulate, the originals have to travel about a thousand kilometres each way, so we plan that leg first and work back to the date you need the documents. Use tracked courier rather than ordinary post for originals, keep scans of every page before sending, and tell us about any fixed appointment so the courier window is planned around it.
This list reflects the requirements published by the responsible authority on the verification date. Authorities may change their conditions, so confirm with the source before lodging. Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs · verified 2026-07-31
The steps below are drawn from the procedures the responsible authority publishes itself, with the source and verification date shown. Some steps depend on the case and may change with the authority’s own announcements. Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs · 2026-08-10
Filing a copy that the issuing office has not certified
Legalization verifies the issuing authority’s signature and seal, so a self-made photocopy carries nothing the officer can verify. Request a certified true copy from the issuing office first.
Translation does not match the original in small details
Names as shown in the passport, dates, document numbers and place-name spellings must match the original exactly. A single-character mismatch is enough to require correction and re-filing.
The document is older than the receiving body accepts
The Department certifies authenticity, but many receiving bodies set their own recency limits. Check the destination’s validity window before requesting a fresh extract.
The person filing has incomplete authority to do so
When not filing in person, a power of attorney with a copy of the grantor’s ID card is required. If its scope does not cover the matter filed, the officer will ask for it to be corrected before accepting the application.
We do not keep a permanent office in Songkhla. Clients there are served by appointment and courier through Bangkok Headquarters (Lat Phrao 95), the nearest permanently staffed branch. We never claim a shopfront where we have none.
In most cases no. Filings with central authorities such as the Department of Consular Affairs or an embassy can be handled on your behalf. Steps that legally require you in person — fingerprinting, or signing in front of the certifying attorney — cannot be delegated.
Turnaround depends on the responsible authority’s queue and rules at the time, so we publish no fixed figure. We tell you the authority’s own published window on the day you ask, plus the steps that usually cause delay.
Our team can review documents and coordinate translation, signature certification, legalisation and embassy steps within the agreed scope. Some steps may still require the document owner to appear or sign in person under the receiving authority’s rules.
We do not publish fixed prices: official fees, page counts and language pairs differ in every case. Send the document details and destination and we will scope the work and cost for your specific case.
Documents can travel by trackable EMS or private courier. Confirm the recipient, address and original-document handling before dispatch; the coordinating destination is Bangkok Headquarters (Lat Phrao 95).
Send the document details and the destination that will receive it. We map the correct chain before starting, flag what usually gets rejected, and run it end to end — as advisers, not just a filing agent.
